The DRC holds most of the forest in the world. It is ranked second after Brazil. It attracts both public and private investors around the world to undertake forest exploiting.

In order to make it attractive, the Congolese forest sector is governed by a number of laws, regulations and policies that regulate the conditions under which a forestry activity is carried out.

According to the Forest Code, the forests are subdivided into 3 categories especially: permanent production forests, classified forests and local community forests.
